These are the slides to a quick, "Works in Progress" presentation I gave at the 2003 Hackers conference. At the conference I just talked off-the-cuff from some notes. I've tried to recreate what I said here, though since I'm writing, and I'm not under the strict eight minute time pressure, there is quite a bit more here than said at the conference.

After I built my umpteenth web site in the LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/Perl-PHP-Python) style, I decided that there had to be a better way. Wheat is the outgrowth of about two years of thought into the problems with building small to medium scale dynamic web sites.

Wheat is an environment for web programming. It has an object model, language, and processing model that are directly suited to programming for the web.
